Configure Bluetooth beacons

Configuring BLE beacons in the Beacon Management section of the Parousya Customer Account.

Prerequisite: It is necessary to input your Estimote App ID and Token (obtained from Integrate Estimote beacons) into the 'App Management' section of your Parousya Account.

Procedure

1. Go to Beacons Management and choose the your app from the list of your applications.

   
2. Select the beacon you want to update

   
3. Update as required

   

   1. Tags - this is mandatory so that your app recognises the beacon. In the Parousya dashboard, this is the "Zone Name".

   2. Estimote Monitoring - this must be set to ON for the Parousya SDK/Component to work. You cannot save your updates if it is set to OFF.

   3. Beaconloc - for a new beacon, this does not have a value. You must set a value. It can be used to identify a beacon, e.g. "Taxi AB1234". There is no restriction on how you use this parameter in your app. You cannot save your updates if you do not set a value.

   4. You can add other attachment keys and values. Two commonly used keys are major and minor.

   5. Set Access Mode to "Deployed & Protected" to protect the beacon from unauthorised changes. This setting is immediate.

   6. Flip To Sleep is useful for testing. When set, your app behaves like it is out of the beacon range. For production purposes, it is usually set to OFF. This feature needs you to own the beacon and use the Android or iOS Estimote app to propagate the change to the beacon.

Note: Updates to the Tags and Key Attachments parameters are immediately available on beacons.

Warning: To apply updates to the Flip To Sleep and Estimote Monitoring parameters on your beacons, download the Estimote app on your Android or iOS device, and connect with each beacon.
